The best way to enjoy a yachting holiday

When it comes to exclusive sailing holidays, the most popular amongst them all in the last few years, are luxury catamaran charters.
Since the launch of first Sunreef catamaran in 2005, the MISTER T, the sailing world started to look differently.  In the last few years, explosions of existing and new brands have resulted in catamarans overtaking monohulls in both numbers and popularity.  And therefore, if you are planning a highly desirable family yachting vacation, chartering boats such as Sunreef 60, Lagoon 65, Alegria 67, Sunreef 50 or even a Bali 5.4 and some of the newest models such as SAMANA 59, Royal Cape 57, Leopard 50, Privilege 510 Signature, Voyage 590 and VAAN R5 or MOON 60, is the way to go.

Catamarans available for luxury catamaran charters:

A2A YACHTING is a leading UK yacht charter broker when it comes to arranging luxury catamaran rentals.  The most popular multihulls available for crewed charters these days are Bali 5.4, Lagoon 65, Sunreef 60 and Alegria 67. These models can also be found in all major sailing destinations.  Voyage 590’s are highly popular for those keen on sailing within the sublime waters of Virgin Islands, while boats such as SAMANA 59 and Alegria can be found in biggest numbers in the East Mediterranean, in particular within the Greek Cyclades and Ionian archipelago.  The absolute preference for the majority of families keen to charter a luxury catamaran remains Sunreef 60 however. A number of such models are available in both the East Caribbean during the winter months, and in the Mediterranean during the summer season.  Their charter rates are in the region of 40,000 – 50,000 Eur per week, with Christmas and NEW YEAR weeks attracting a premium. The services in the Caribbean are usually all inclusive however, while in the Mediterranean they are always plus all expenses and with an added VAT on top.

Destinations and itineraries:

The most desirable itineraries for luxury catamaran charterers are in the British Virgin Islands in the Caribbean or alongside Cote d’Azur in South of France. A typical itinerary in the BVI’s would cover stopovers at amazing rocks and boulders as well as crystal clear ponds and caves or tunnels of Virgin Gorda, relaxing cocktail sipping and snorkelling at Peter Island, adventurous spear fishing and viewing famous Roseata Flamingos off Anegada, exploring the Marine life off Monkey Point in Guana Island, eating lobster at Grand Harbour at Jost Van Dyke, enjoying a beach BBQ at Sandy Cay, the picture-perfect and idyllic desert island or stopovers at a few other locations such as Trellis Bay, Cooper Island and so on.  In the South of France your obligatory stopovers would have to include Cap d’Antibes and nearby Lerin islands of Le Croisette with visit to old town of Cannes, Gulf of St Tropez including visit to Port Grimaud and neighboring Pampelonne Plage, Le Porquerolles National Park, beautiful city of Nice, lovely and historic Antibes, romantic Eze Bord-du-Mer and spectacular Monaco.  Other popular itineraries are in Greece, one way between Athens and Mykonos, in Croatia, one way between Split and Dubrovnik or in Spain between Islands of Mallorca and Ibiza or increasingly popular Menorca.  Finally, custom made or long-term charters can also include cross-country sailing with one way charters between Olbia in North East Sardinia and Bastia in North Corsica.   You can pick up a luxury catamaran in all other major sailing destinations and A2A YACHTING have also recently arranged one way charter from Barbados – Columbia – Panama’s San Blas islands for example!

Luxury catamaran charter rates:

The charter rates have increased in the last 2 years so that a typical luxury catamaran charter now costs close to or around 20,000 Eur plus all expenses even during the off-season. To get the most luxurious boats amongst these, you would probably need to budget for at least 50,000 Eur per week, although during the peak of the season or towards the turn of the year, budget on boats such as Sunreef 60 or Alegria 67 may have to be increased by further 20%.  A typical 2x week charter on a luxury Sunreef 60 could easily reach mind-blowing 100,000 Eur therefore.  Smaller catamarans such as BALI 5.4 or Privilege 510 will most likely come to around 25,000 Eur per week in mid-season and up to 30,000 Eur during the most desirable weeks.   All rates can be negotiated and at times owners also provide discounts however.
